Early Spring Update

Sentinel had a vision meeting while walking in the rain today through
our neighborhood of Oakland. Nature is blooming, so green and damp
everywhere. Wonderful. We had visions, but the main decision was to
write new music, new tunes that represent more of the mood we are
feeling now; a sense of growth, through so much change and
deconstruction. In summary we'd like to make a moody & spatial
album with more of the influences that we enjoy hearing in music. We
went back and our drummer laid down some new drum tracks. Check back to
hear more about how we continue to make new creations.

Sentinel invited to play The Ant Show~ Red Devil Lounge, San Francisco

Great times at the show last Thursday. We played with some really great bands thanks to Tin Fan who put the whole ANT SHOW together. The Blank Slates had a great singer; Please Don't Fight really brought out the crowds and rocked the stage with their songs and cover; The Catholic Combs, were so well put together and dreamy. Since Miss Fan is putting together a compilation of local bands, and we've included this year; We look forward to playing a show to help promote the release!

Oakland dream-pop favorites Sentinel recently sent us a cover of Let it Snow, just in time for the holidays. Originally released in 1945 as “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”, it hit number one on the Billboard charts the following year.

If you like the track, they are offering it up for free in the spirit of the holidays.

Sentinel, a dream-pop four piece from Oakland has returned with another very solid effort on their May 2008 release, “Kites Without Strings”. Avalanche is the second track off their new CD, a beautiful and ethereal pop-driven snapshot portraying jumping into the quick moving avalanche of newfound love without any cares in the world.

Sentinel formed in 2000 in Long Beach, California as a project between musical visionary Dennis Bestafka and long-time vocalist Tarabud. Following Airborne Infantry deployment in Iraq, Dennis returned to the San Francisco area in 2003 to rekindle the project and later picked up local musicians Jenna Tiano and David Serotkin. They then put out a few well received albums in the space up to the recent release of ‘Kites’.
